Foreign Exchange: FOREX will focus on ways in which artistic research determines the form of much contemporary art and on the role of research in the preparation of international contemporary art projects. The seminar, and parallel exhibition ‘Pieces of Eight’ at PSL [Project Space Leeds] will examine this territory, with particular reference to what might be called the hermeneutic gap between artists’ and curators’ working practices.
Wednesday 25 April: Keynote lecture by independent curator Andrea Schlieker, curator of the Folkestone Triennials ‘Beyond the white cube: research, risks and rewards in creating works for the public realm’ 6pm, Leeds Art Gallery lecture theatre
Thursday 26 April: Presentations by Lisa Le Feuvre, William Rose, Tuula Narhinen, Emma Rushton & Derek Tyman 9.30am start, Henry Moore Institute Followed by Preview of ‘Pieces of Eight’ at PSL from 6-8pm. All welcome.
Friday 27 April: Presentations by Kerry Harker, David McCallum, Mika Hannula, and round table discussion chaired by Roger Palmer 9.30am start, Henry Moore Institute
