Laura Ford

Laura Ford’s The Great Indoors consists of two diminutive polar explorers and five larger-than-life stags who stand silent sentinel over them. The work is woven from memory fragments that are just as much Ford’s material as the off-cuts of fabric and old clothes that have been sewn together to construct the figures. The stags recall the artist’s own experiences of walking in London’s Richmond Park, where, over time, the deer have grown nonchalant about the human presence in their midst.
